Our Commitment

MindBody Expo, produced by Tampu Project Inc, is committed to making our website and in-person events accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that wellness and community are for every body, and that commitment extends to how we design our digital presence and event experience.

We strive to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards across this website. Accessibility is not a one-time checklist: we review and improve our site regularly, welcome community feedback, and work to remove barriers as they are identified.

As a small volunteer-run nonprofit, we recognize that we have limited resources. We are transparent about where we fall short and committed to steady, practical progress. Every visitor deserves a respectful and functional experience, whether browsing our site on a screen reader, navigating it by keyboard, or attending our expo with a mobility device.

WCAG Conformance

This website is designed to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We test across multiple dimensions:

• Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, the mobile menu) are reachable and operable via keyboard alone, with no keyboard traps.
• Screen reader compatibility: We test with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and descriptive alt text support assistive technology.
• Automated testing: We use browser-based accessibility auditors (Axe, Lighthouse) to catch issues during development.
• Manual review: A real person checks each new page for logical heading hierarchy, readable link text, sufficient color contrast, and form label clarity.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. If you encounter a barrier that we missed, we want to hear about it. Your report helps us fix real problems, not just pass automated scans.

Measures Taken

We have implemented the following specific measures on this website to support accessibility:

• Semantic HTML5 landmarks: Every page uses meaningful sectioning elements: <header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>, and <aside>. Screen reader users can jump directly to key regions.
• Skip-to-content link: A hidden link at the top of every page becomes visible on focus. Pressing Tab once on page load surfaces a "Skip to main content" link that bypasses navigation.
• ARIA labels on interactive elements: Buttons, form fields, and navigation regions carry descriptive aria-label, aria-expanded, or aria-controls attributes so assistive technology can convey purpose and state.
• Visible focus indicators: Every focusable element displays a 3px green outline with 2px offset on focus. This meets or exceeds the WCAG 2.4.7 focus-visible requirement and helps keyboard users track where they are on the page.
• Color contrast: All text and UI components meet WCAG AA minimum contrast ratios: 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and icons. Our palette uses off-black green on cream (#122114 on #FBFCFA) for comfortable reading and measured contrast.
• Alt text on all images: Every content image includes meaningful alt text. Decorative images are marked with aria-hidden="true" or empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
• Visible form labels: All form inputs have persistent visible labels, never placeholder-only text. Required fields are marked visually and programmatically.
• Reduced motion respected: We honor the prefers-reduced-motion: reduce media query. When enabled, animations, transitions, and scroll-reveal effects are disabled.
• Touch target sizing: Interactive elements (buttons, links in navigation, form controls) are at least 44x44 CSS pixels, meeting WCAG 2.5.5 target size. The mobile drawer menu links are 54px tall.
• Responsive layout: The site adapts to viewports from 320px to wide desktop without horizontal scroll, broken layouts, or content loss.

Event Accessibility

Our in-person MindBody Expo gatherings are designed with accessibility in mind. Here is what to expect at Old School Square:

• Wheelchair access: Old School Square is fully wheelchair accessible, including the main pavilion, lawn areas, indoor spaces, and restrooms. All vendor aisles are arranged with sufficient width for mobility devices.
• Service animals: Service animals are welcome throughout the venue. Please note that the expo is fully vegan and we ask that all attendees respect the plant-based environment.
• Accessible parking: Designated accessible parking spaces are available at the Old School Square parking lot, located closest to the main entrance. Additional accessible parking is available in the adjacent public garage on NE 1st Avenue.
• Accessible restrooms: All restroom facilities at Old School Square include accessible stalls, grab bars, and sink clearance.
• Quiet and rest area: Our Wellness Lounge serves as a designated quiet zone with seating, reduced noise, and a calm atmosphere. Anyone who needs a break from sensory stimulation is welcome to use this space at any time during the expo.
• ASL interpretation: American Sign Language interpretation is available upon request for stage programming, workshops, and guided sessions. Please contact us at least 2 weeks before the event so we can coordinate coverage. Email [email protected] or call (561) 568-2518 to request interpretation.
• Large-print materials: Zone maps, schedules, and vendor directories are available in large-print format at the info tent near the main entrance. Digital versions are also published on this website before each event.
• Seating: Seating is available throughout the venue, including shaded areas, picnic tables, and chairs at the Wellness Lounge. If you need priority seating at any stage or workshop, speak with a volunteer at the info tent.

If you have a specific access need not listed here, please reach out ahead of time. We will do our best to accommodate you. As a volunteer-run event, some accommodations require advance notice, but we never want access concerns to keep anyone from attending.

Known Limitations

We are transparent about the areas where our accessibility effort is incomplete. The following known limitations are being tracked and addressed as resources allow:

• Older PDF documents: Some PDF files hosted on this site, including historical IRS Form 990-N filings and organizational bylaws, were created from scans or older word processors and may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to remediate these documents. If you need any document in an alternative format, email us and we will provide an accessible version within 5 business days.
• Third-party social media embeds: Our site links to Facebook and Instagram content. Embedded feeds, widgets, or overlays served by Meta Platforms are outside our direct control and may present accessibility challenges. We minimize embedded third-party content to reduce this impact.
• Google Maps on the contact page: The embedded Google Map on our contact page is an iframe served by Google and may not fully meet WCAG conformance for keyboard or screen reader users. Contact information and our physical address are provided in plain text above the map as a reliable alternative.
• Video content: Event recap videos shared from our social channels may not yet have captions or audio descriptions. We are prioritizing captioning for all new video content and working through our back catalog.
• Vendor application form: Our third-party form provider (used for vendor and volunteer applications) may not fully meet WCAG AA standards. We are evaluating alternative providers. In the meantime, if you encounter barriers with any form, contact us directly and we will process your application by phone or email.

This list is updated as issues are resolved. If you discover a barrier not listed here, please report it using the channels below. We take every report seriously and prioritize fixes based on impact.

We aim to resolve accessibility barriers promptly. Our internal process: each report is reviewed by Emilia Lujan, logged in our issue tracker, assigned a priority based on user impact, and addressed in order. We will follow up with you when the issue is resolved or if we need more information to reproduce it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division or file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission regarding digital accessibility concerns. We hope it never comes to that, and we will work with you in good faith to address any issue you raise.
